Incredible ... Polish striker Robert Lewandowski was unstoppable. Source: Frank Augstein / AAP
Robert Lewandowski became the first man to score four goals against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League as Borussia Dortmund thrashed the Spanish giants 4-1 in their semi-final first leg on Thursday morning (AEDT).
It continues German clubs' recent dominance over their Spanish counterparts, coming just 24 hours after Bayern Munich stunned Barcelona with a 4-0 win.
Madrid and Dortmund went into the half-time break level, after Lewandowski opened the scoring in just the eighth minute and Portugese star Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed an equaliser on 43 minutes.
But the second half was anything but an even contest as Lewandowski ran rampant, with the Polish striker netting three goals in the space of 17 minutes to cap a remarkable evening in Dortmund.
More to come...
