Central Coast Mariners' premiership-winning defender Trent Sainsbury is close to securing a move to Bolton Wanderers, according to UK reports.
The Daily Mail is reporting the English second-tier club has agreed to a deal with Sainsbury worth just over A$500,000.
Bolton's bid is set to gazump Barclays Premier League side Southampton, who want to trial the versatile defender before tabling an offer.
Sainsbury is coming off a superb season for the A-League champions and was one of their best players in the grand final victory over Western Sydney Wanderers.
The Mariners might pay for their success, with interest in stars Bernie Ibini and Mat Ryan coming for overseas clubs.
