North Melbourne have shown enormous faith in Brad Scott and his blueprint for success by extending the deal of the Kangaroos coach to the end of the 2016 AFL season.
The Kangaroos will announce the new deal for Scott at a press conference in Melbourne on Thursday afternoon.
Scott, a two-time premiership player in Brisbane Lions' golden era, has a 52 per cent winning rate in 67 games coached.
He led the Kangaroos to the finals for the first time in his three-year reign in 2012 but saw his side limp out of the premiership race when they were thrashed by West Coast in the elimination final in Perth.
Before the 96-point belting by the Eagles, North won 10 of their last 12 home-and-away games.
The 2012 campaign included impressive victories over Adelaide, Geelong, Collingwood and bogey team St Kilda.
Scott's new deal - if he completes it - will take him into the club's top five for games coached.
