The Pies trailed by 10 points at three-quarter time, but goals to Steele Sidebottom and Scott Pendlebury inside the final minute of play sealed a memorable win for Nathan Buckley’s men in their first encounter with the Mick Malthouse-led Blues.
Youngster Jamie Elliot was outstanding for the Magpies with five goals, while Chris Yarran, Jeff Garlett and Andrew Walker kicked three apiece for Carlton.
