Vidosic has point to prove: Kossie

If Adelaide playmaker Dario Vidosic wants to avoid the dreaded "wasted talent" tag, he must prove himself against Brisbane Roar in the A-League elimination semi-final at Hindmarsh Stadium.

That's the opinion of former Reds coach John Kosmina, who believes Adelaide can end Roar's season if Vidosic and Marcelo Carrusca fire.

Vidosic, who turns 26 on Monday, has had a mixed season at the Reds and has not played for the Socceroos since June 2011.

He had a tense relationship with Kosmina, who was Adelaide coach but left the club in January.

Kosmina recognises Vidosic's undoubted skills, but has questioned the attacking midfielder's ability to produce the goods on a regular basis.

"Dario Vidosic, more than anyone on the park, has a point to prove," Kosmina said.

"He has to prove he's a good player and not another wasted talent.

"This game will be more about Vidosic and Carrusca. When they are in unison, Adelaide score goals.

"It's been all too rare of late but this is a final ... they both thrive in this kind of scenario. It will come down to individuals and who is best on the day and my gut feeling is the Reds will come out on top."

Vidosic rejected interview requests during the week, perhaps fearing the subject of his father Rado's future would come up.

Currently Roar's technical director after being replaced by Mike Mulvey in December, Rado Vidosic had been linked with a move to Adelaide next season.

But it's now more likely he will move to NSW to become Frank Farina's right-hand man at Sydney.

Roar will be without the services of Brazilian speedster Henrique, who has succumbed to an ankle injury.

Having only started in nine matches this season, Henrique would have been among the substitutes had he been fit.

His place has been taken by emerging attacker Kwame Yeboah, who joins Stef Nijland, Ben Halloran, Massimo Murdocca and Matt Acton on an extended five-man bench.
