Greater Western Sydney coach Kevin Sheedy says if he had been on the end of Jeff Kennett's stinging criticism of Alastair Clarkson, he would have "smashed him".
Hawthorn coach Clarkson said he has "no issue" with the criticism levelled by outspoken former Hawks president Kennett.
Kennett, speaking after the Hawks lost narrowly to Geelong on Monday, said Clarkson should leave or be sacked at the end of the season.
Kennett apologised and Clarkson accepted. But Sheedy said he would have gone harder than the Hawks coach.
"I would have smashed him," Sheedy told Fox Sports News.
"I would have absolutely taken him to task on it.
"I would have thought Alastair would have been a bit stronger."
Sheedy was at his entertaining best on Thursday night, providing an interesting take on the Mick Malthouse and Collingwood issue.
"Deep down Mick's a good bloke ... but he is a grump," Sheedy said.
"I'm probably dopey, he's grumpy."
