Brisbane have re-signed promising midfielder Luke Brattan for two more years.
The English-born 22-year-old has impressed coach Mike Mulvey since stepping up his involvement with the A-League team last month, following the departure of Erik Paartalu to Tianjin Teda in the Chinese Super League.
Mulvey said while Brattan was still working on his fitness and other aspects of his game, he had the skills to be one of the A-League's best midfielders.
The Roar face a crunch game on Friday night against Newcastle at Hunter Stadium, with a win likely to see them edge back into the top six with five rounds remaining.
"It's important we start building some momentum but there is still a lot of soccer left to be played yet,'' said Mulvey, who could have Henrique back for the clash after the striker trained well on Thursday morning.
Watch the Jets host Brattan and his Brisbane Roar teammates at 7.30pm (EDT), on Friday February 22 on Fox Sports 1 and 1HD.
