Sydney FC and A-League fans will get to enjoy another year of Alessandro Del Piero, with the club expected to announce a contract extension at a press conference on Thursday afternoon.
The Harbour City Lifestyle was a deciding factor in the Italian activating the second year of his $2 million Sky Blues contract.
Del Piero’s signature is another huge brick in the reconstruction of Sydney under Frank Farina to go with the short-term signing of Lucas Neill and longer term securing of Joel Griffiths.
The Italian has been a stunning success on and off the field, scoring 11 goals to be Sydney’s highest-ever goal scorer in one season and attracting bumper crowds wherever Sydney plays.
