Golf’s most dominant figure for the past 20 years, Tiger Woods cheated on his Swedish model wife Elin Nordegren (figure that one out). Following the revelations, another 12 women came out claiming to have slept with Tiger. Woods made a public apology for his sins, but many accused it of being a PR exercise as opposed to genuine contrition.
Football’s pantomime villain. Let no one doubt the Liverpool striker’s talent on the field, but Suarez’s rap sheet is about as long as the Red’s EPL title drought. Racism, biting, hair-pulling, diving and who could forget that deliberate handball against Ghana at the 2010 World Cup and his ensuing celebration of the missed penalty?
Sally Robbins did the unforgiveable for a rower at the 2004 Athens Olympics, putting down her oar and giving up during the last 500m of a race. She cost her team the chance of a medal, was given the tag ‘Lay Down Sally’ and never received forgiveness from the public.

Wild pre-Olympics bonding, stilnox use, childish knock-and-run games and disrupting teammates. The members of the Aussie men’s 4x100m swimming team not only underperformed in the pool in London, but they sullied the reputation of Australia’s swimmers on the world’s biggest stage.
Another in the Suarez mould- world class on the field but not so classy off it, John Terry had an affair with the wife of teammate Wayne Bridge, who was best man at Terry’s wedding. The Chelsea skipper also accepted a bribe to show a reporter around the Blues’ training ground and was accused - but later acquitted- of racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand.
Where to start with Choc? Insulting comments about the September 11 attacks, questioning Daniel Geale’s Aboriginal heritage, accusing indigenous NRL legends Laurie Daley and Artie Beetson of being ‘uncle Toms' and talking more trash than a WWE wrestler.
Before his systemic doping was confirmed, Lance Armstrong was sport’s media darling, the man who overcame testicular cancer to win the Tour de France an amazing seven times in a row. Pity it was all a scam and Armstrong had cheated his way up the French mountains into the record books.
