Reds target Vidosic as coach

Brisbane Roar technical director Rado Vidosic is set to be headhunted by Adelaide United if he fails to apply for the Reds' coaching job before next month's deadline.

Deposed as Roar coach by Mike Mulvey in December, Vidosic was wanted on a short-term basis by the Reds last month to assist Adelaide's interim head coach Mike Valkanis, who replaced John Kosmina.

Despite still being contracted to Brisbane, Vidosic wanted to go but Roar officials refused Adelaide's request.

The Reds' interest in Vidosic has not dulled, with a club source yesterday telling The Courier-Mail the father of current Adelaide star Dario Vidosic remained on the South Australian club's radar.

The Reds recently appointed a committee, chaired by board member Bruno Marveggio and including former Socceroos Craig Foster and Alex Tobin, in their thorough bid to find a new permanent boss.

There has been plenty of interest in the Reds' coaching position ahead of the March 15 deadline for applications.

And while it's understood Vidosic is yet to apply, the panel will not be shy in getting in contact with him in the next few weeks to gauge his interest in the job.

Vidosic's unsuccessful stint as Roar head coach won't be held against him by the Reds officials, who are fans of his football philosophy.

The fact that Dario is contracted to Adelaide - who host the Roar at Hindmarsh Stadium on Saturday - until the end of next season will neither help nor hinder his father's chances of being appointed the Reds head coach.

In his 11 A-League matches in charge of the Roar, Vidosic's record was three wins, two draws and six losses.

His relationship with Mulvey is strained, although the pair have met in recent weeks to discuss the progress of a detailed document Vidosic is preparing on the style of football the Roar want to  play permanently.

Meanwhile, midfielder George Lambadaridis has signed a new two-year deal with the Roar.

Having been on a full-time youth team contract since joining the club in 2011, the 20-year-old Melbourne product's contract will be upgraded to A-League status next season.

"I look forward to continuing my development here as a footballer and maximising my first-team opportunities,'' Lambadaridis said.
