Key defender Alipate Carlile and promising tall Jackson Trengove head a quartet of players to sign new contracts with Port Adelaide on Monday.
Carlile and Trengove signed four and two-year deals respectively, while key forward John Butcher and emerging midfielder Andrew Moore also signed two-year contract extensions.
The signings are a coup for the struggling club, which could have lost Carlile to free agency at the end of the season, while all four players would have attracted interest from clubs in their native Victoria at season's end had they remained unsigned.
“With all four of these talented young players committing to the club together, it's just a great show of faith in what we're trying to do and where we're heading," coach Ken Hinkley said.
"We want stability in this club and along with our skipper Travis Boak re-committing last year we're actually building a club where players want to be a part of what we're doing because they see a bright future.
"You want these types of players at your football club. They are all outstanding characters.
"Each one of them in their own way brings something special to the group. Jacko (Trengove) is a strong voice and a really solid person, Bobby (Carlile) loves to help people as is evidenced by the multicultural work he does outside the club and Moorey (Moore) and Butch (Butcher) are just great people to have around the footy club."
Carlile, 25, has played 111 games for Port since he was picked up in the third round of the 2005 national draft, while 22-year old Trengove has managed 61 appearances after the Power snared him with the 22nd pick at the 2008 draft.
Injury has restricted Butcher, 21, to just 12 games since the club used the eighth overall selection of the 2009 national draft on him and 21-year-old Moore, who was taken with the next pick at the same draft, has played 24 senior matches.
