Cronulla has suffered another terrible blow with inspirational skipper Paul Gallen forced from the field with a knee injury in the opening minutes of today's game against Newcastle.
Gallen was taking his first run of the afternoon in the third minute when he collapsed under a tackle.
He told trainers he heard a "click" in his right knee.
He hobbled back into position but left the field almost immediately.
Cronulla medical staff said he would not return for the rest of the game.
The news is also a major concern for NSW, with only a month to go before Origin 1 on June 5.
